Nick Jonas Says Brother Joe Has ‘Opened Up My Ear’ With New Music
Filed under: Joe, Nick | Posted by: | February 25th, 2011

Nick Jonas loves hitting the studio (which he actually calls the “beat lab,” one of our favorite facts about him) and working on new music, whether it be for his own solo work, an album with his brothers or something else entirely as a producer or collaborator with other artists. These days, Nick admits, he’s flexing his music muscle and working on all different types of science in the beat lab.

“I’ve been in the studio a lot lately,” the 18-year-old star told MTV News in a recent chat. “Basically writing and producing for other people. It’s not for me or my brothers right now. Joe is doing a solo record and that’s taking up a lot of his time and opened up my ear a lot. It’s a big passion of mine [to write and produce]. You come in every day and you don’t have a certain thing you’re writing for.”

So while it seems that Joe is going for more of an electronic sound these days, what kinds of music is Nick experimenting with in the beat lab? “Creating music is probably my favorite part of this whole thing, along with the touring,” he told us. “When I come in, I go with whatever feels right, a lot of R&B and pop leaning stuff [but older sounds and] infusing those sounds into pop music because there’s no box. I can experiment. I’m really excited about the music.”

Nick Jonas Wants Fans To Vote For Kevin At The Kids’ Choice Awards
Filed under: Kevin, Nick | Posted by: | February 25th, 2011

The Jonas Brothers are up for three orange blimps at the Kids’ Choice Awards next month, and Nick Jonas recently admitted to MTV News that the guys are certainly ready to take home one of the trophies come awards night.

“We’re really blessed to be nominated for favorite band again this year,” he dished. “We’d love to win it. That’d be great. We’re up against some great people, who have had some great success.”

Aside from the music accolade, the guys (well, specifically Nick and Joe) are also up for an acting prize. But Nick wants fans to write in another brother to take home the award.

“And as far as the best actor nomination goes, I’m really shocked by that. As far as the acting thing goes I’m still learning,” he said. “I don’t know if I’ll win it. I hope I do. Maybe the fans will vote for us. It’s always funny with me and Joe, it kind of splits the vote a bit and so maybe just vote for Kevin. I think no matter if Joe or I did win, I’d be like, ‘I think Kevin’s the funniest actor out of all of us. He deserves this.’”

Nick Jonas Wants A Glee Cameo
Filed under: Nick | Posted by: | February 16th, 2011

Nick Jonas admits he’s a Gleek.

The Who I Am singer says he’s a fan of the hit musical TV show and would be “honored” if creator Ryan Murphy gave him a one-off cameo in a future episode of Glee.

Nick says: “Everybody says this, obviously, in the entertainment business because it’s such a popular show – that’s why I’m reluctant to say it – but I really do appreciate the use of music in Glee.

“I think everyone can relate that’s in the music business. Everyone’s just thankful that music is kind of popular again because ‘Glee’ does a great job of incorporating it into the show,” adds the Jonas Brothers star.

“I would humbly say that if there’s ever an opportunity they see that I could work well on that show, I would be honored,” Jonas tells TV Squad. “Plus I think that cast is really talented – it would be fun.”

When asked if he’d let the show feature the music of the Jonas Brothers, Nick said he’d love it. “Would I let them use our music? Absolutely! Whatever they wanted to use.”

Nick Jonas On The Seven
Filed under: Nick | Posted by: | February 16th, 2011

I will admit with no shame that I listen to the Jonas Brothers. I mean, I haven’t exactly purchased their music, but I definitely jam to “Burnin’ Up” with the best of ‘em. Plus, I always thought Joe was super cute, so that didn’t hurt. I didn’t pay much attention to the other two, until one day (I swear it was literally out of nowhere), the “little one”–aka Nick–was gorgeous. Like, really gorgeous. So when I found out he’d be on MTV’s The Seven yesterday, I was excited (though not as excited as the screaming fans standing in the cold outside hoping to catch a glimpse of him).

He showed up and was his usual charming self, but I cannot get over how mature he looks and sounds. Am I just old? I tweeted the following:

And many of you agreed. I know, I know, looks aren’t everything, but….they don’t hurt either. Let’s get on to the interview! Nick is appearing on ABC’s Mr. Sunshine tonight–see what he had to say about it in the clip below:
