A South Florida charity run got some star power from one of the Jonas Brothers Monday.

Joe Jonas ran alongside others in a 5K walk and run at Nova Southeastern University in Davie.

Tight security had to keep a stampede of screaming teenage girls from trampling Joe and his younger brother Nick.

The Joe Jonas iWin 5K Fun Run/Walk is part of a series of races Jonas has hosted and participated in through his Change for the Children Foundation to benefit the Special Olympics. All of the money raised will stay in South Florida.

“The run is special because it’s not a race, everybody is a winner, everybody knows that they’re giving back and they have an opportunity to get out there and be able to give. I think for all of us, me and my brothers are always trying to do something like that with certain charities or things that we have a passion for and this is something I definitely have a heart for,” Joe Jonas told CBS4’s Christina Loren during a live interview on the CBS 4 Morning News.

With a name like Jonas, it’s no surprise the teenage girls showed up in droves to see the Disney star in action.

“I’ve been here since 4:30 a.m. to see them,” said one fan.

Joe, who recently turned 21, says he loves spending his free time helping others, especially the Special Olympics.

“I think it’s just these amazing athletes are so special to me. They are so talented and I think when I see them at my concerts they are just an inspiration to me and I just want to be able to give back to them.”

Monday morning’s event was a huge success. They had a goal set in which they wanted to reach $50,000 for Florida Special Olympics and they ended up raising almost $95,000.

Pop star recieves James Bond-inspired watch instead of a dog.
Joe Jonas may have wanted a dog for his 21st birthday, but even huge stars can’t get everything. Instead, he had to settle on a James Bond-inspired Omega watch.

“I got this watch … It’s James Bond’s watch,” Joe proudly told MTV News on Wednesday (August 18) at the New York premiere of “Camp Rock 2.” “It shoots lasers out of it for certain people,” he added.

The day before his August 15 birthday, Joe had a mini-surprise party thrown for him on stage at a show in Hershey, Pennsylvania. How did he spend the day itself? Relaxing: “[I celebrated] with family and friends,” he said. “It was awesome. We sat by the pool and hung out.”

Joe seemed genuinely pleased with his watch, although when he performed with his brothers on “Good Morning America”, he still seemed to really want that dog. “Besides a dog, I don’t know,” he said when asked about his birthday wishes. “That’s all I kind of wanted. I don’t know [what we're going to do to celebrate]. These guys are not telling me what they’re doing.”

Perhaps his 22nd birthday will deliver him a pooch.

Blogger threatened with lawsuit by Joe Jonas…
Joe Jonas has threatened to sue a showbiz blogger over claims the singer slept with ex-girlfriend Demi Lovato.

The Jonas Brothers’ appeal is in part due to their clean-cut reputation. Joe and his brothers have taken vows of abstinence and have spoken openly about their decision to remain virgins until they marry.

The star, who turned 21 today, 15 August, instructed his lawyers contact Canadian blogger Zack Taylor after he allegedly claimed Joe and Demi were “friends with benefits”.

TMZ has obtained a copy of the letter from Jonas’ legal team, ordering the blogger to stop posting stories that claimed the stars “are involved in an illicit relationship”.

It reads: “Your repeated posting of fabricated stories regarding our client must be viewed as evidence of your wilful or reckless disregard for the truth and reflect a malicious attempt to attack and devalue our client’s good name and reputation.”

The claims would not only tarnish Joe’s reputation, but could get him arrested as Demi, at 17, is below the legal age of consent in most US states.

The couple split in May after dating for just two months. They claim to still be good friends and appeared together on Good Morning America on Friday to perform tracks from the Camp Rock 2 soundtrack.

“Demi has been a friend of mine for a long time,” Joe explained. “I think our friendship is so strong that it surpasses a lot of things.”

Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas are pretty used to hitting the road together, which is why when they were planning their latest trek with Demi Lovato and the entire “Camp Rock 2″ crew they figured they might not even need a personal assistant to help them with their day to day. You see, these guys aren’t much for off-stage diva theatrics.

“Kevin’s dog [is a diva],” Joe joked! “We’re not very big divas. We weren’t even going to have a personal assistant this tour, but it worked out we could have one.” He later added, “I like to pull pranks.”

Really? Like what kinds? Well, apparently the kind of hijinx that can be pulled right in front of the audience’s eyes. “Pranks are funny,” Kevin shared. “It’s weird cause you do things to people more on stage that other people would never even realize, like we can have moments on stage where me and Joe are talking and you’d never even know it. But, were having a full on conversation.”

So when the guys aren’t pulling in-your-face-if-you’re-paying-attention pranks, what are they doing with their off time? “We ride those things, those scooters are fun!” Joe said. “We play video games. We hang out. I like to read, play with Kevin’s little dog.”

‘I’ve heard it,’ brother Nick says of Joe’s solo material. ‘It’s awesome.’
While his brother Nick released a solo album earlier this year under his side project Nick Jonas and the Administration, Joe Jonas says he has no formal plans to go solo himself. But the middle Jonas, who made a cameo this week on TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland,” admits he is working on some new music.

“I didn’t say that,” he laughed when MTV News asked about a solo LP. “I said I’ve been working on lots of music. I’ve been working [with] lots of musicians having a great time.”

While he wouldn’t get specific about what it is he’s working on, or whom he’s working on it with, Joe did add, “[I have] been writing with a lot of friends of mine and some artists here and there, and we’ll see what comes out it.”

So, in the event that he does release some independent work, will he borrow Nick’s band name? “I leave the Administration stuff to Nick,” he quipped.

Whatever he decides, it seems he’s got the full support of his bros. “I’ve heard it. It’s awesome,” Nick said, before Kevin chimed in, “It’s really good music.”

With both Nick and Joe making strides to pursue their own endeavors apart from the band, we wondered, what has big brother Kevin been up to?

“I’ve just been really enjoying the first year of marriage,” he explained. “So far, there’s a couple things in the pipeline for me and, I don’t know. There’s a lot going on and I just want to explore every option.”

Joe Jonas wants to go from Disney to the dark side

On Wednesday’s Hot in Cleveland, which stars Valerie Bertinelli , Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick, the 20-year-old guest-stars as the son of Melanie (Bertinelli). He’s stopping by to say hi on his way to college.

Considering the actor is much younger than the show’s stars as well as notable guest stars like Carl Reiner (88) and Tim Conway (76), Jonas asserts, “the scenes are really funny … anyone from any age will get the role and enjoy it.”

Jonas adds that his whole family (that includes famous brothers and bandmates Nick and Kevin) is a fan of Bertinelli’s and that he learned a lot from the cast, “especially making mistakes and not feeling embarrassed about it.”

Jonas especially enjoyed working with the 88-year-old White.

“It was such an honor, so I took as many pictures as I could. [Our] scenes together are pretty funny … people are going to laugh when they see us together,” he says.

Will Jonas return as part of the Cleveland family next season? “It would be awesome to come back,” he says. “I told the writers I’m down.”

Hot in Cleveland airs Wednesday at 10/9c on TV Land.

Valerie Bertinelli gushes over her on-screen son Joe Jonas in this new clip from Hot In Cleveland, thanks to ET.

The 20-year-old actor plays Valerie’s son Will in the TV Land series. He shared about working on the set, “It’s amazing. The cast is so nice and helpful throughout the scenes, especially Valerie.”

Joe also shared about Betty White, “I think my best memory of her on the set is when some of us were all over in one corner and she was over in another, just knitting. It looked like she was in her own house. [I was] just kind of watching her…”

Nick & Joe Jonas revealed their favorite Camp Rock 2 scenes to Popstar!

Joe revealed, “For me, filming-wise, the water balloon fight scene was really fun to film because there were, like, thousands of kids nailing each other in the face with water balloons. I mean, what more could you want? That’s totally camp.”

As for the scene he was most happy with, it was “the last scene that we performed around the campfire. It’s a really special scene and it was the last scene we filmed. It was touching for all of us because we’re so attached to the movie.”

Nick says, “For the ‘Introducing Me’ song, shooting it was challenging, but seeing the final product was rewarding. When I heard the song at first, I was concerned as to whether I would be able to pull it off because it’s more comedic route when it comes to songwriting as I usually take that part of my career very seriously so I really had to step outside my comfort zone. But once I saw it and how good it turned out, I was very happy.”
