Joe Jonas is coming back to the big screen — but not in a concert movie.
The 22-year-old musician tells EOnline about the exciting news, “I was in Mexico City last week and my manager called me and said, ‘The movie’s financed!’ I was, like, in tears.”
“The storyline is still bare bones,” Joe added, “but I will say he has a specific dream that he wants to accomplish, and it’s the good and the bad he has to go through to get there. It’s going to be an older-feeling kind of movie.”
Joe Jonas hits the stage with a studded vest as he performs at MTV’s Concert To Benefit Lifebeat held at the House of Blues on Saturday night (August 27) in West Hollywood, Calif.
The 21-year-old musician joined Cobra Starship and Miguel at the fest which benefitted Lifebeat and the organization’s HIV/AIDS outreach and support programs.
Even younger brother Nick showed up to support him!

As if the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night aren’t going to be enough music and entertainment, the festivities will kick off even earlier, and Celebuzz can exclusively reveal that Joe Jonas will be performing for the world to see online!.
Jonas and R&B star Miguel will be headlining the VMA weekend concert, and fans can watch for free in a live stream on MTV.com at 9:30 PST on Saturday, August 27. The Jonas-Miguel concert will be the big finale to a weekend of big time performances, as the concert series will kick off on Friday night with performances by Swizz Beats, Chiddy Bang and Wallpaper.
The Friday night show that night will be hosted by pop starlet Jessie J.
On Saturday, Cobra Starship, Miguel and Jonas will all be taking part in “The 2011 mtvU VMA Concert to Benefit Lifebeat – Music Fights HIV,” where all proceeds from the $40 tickets will go to benefit Lifebeat. You can get tickets at Lifebeat.org. Tickets for Friday night’s show are $20 and can be purchased here.
The festivities will all lead to the big night on Sunday, when Selena Gomez hosts the VMA pre-show, ultimately leading into the awards kicking off at 9pm EST with an opening performance by Lady Gaga. There will also be a tribute to Britney Spears, performances by Adele, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown — plus, knowing the VMAs, a whole lot of other surprises.
The Jonas Brothers have spent the past few years dominating the teen music scene. But after selling millions of albums and winning the hearts of fans worldwide, 22-year-old Joe Jonas is ready to break out on his own.
Jonas is set to release his solo debut album, FastLife, on Oct. 11. And before he starts his gig opening for Britney Spears on the European leg of her Femme Fatale tour later this fall, the singer will be teaming up with R&B superstar Jay Sean to co-headline a 19-city tour, kicking off Sept. 6.
Jonas talked to Parade.com about performing without his brothers, and why he’s not afraid to open up about love and heartache on his new album.
On venturing out on his own.
“It’s been really awesome to see how many people have supported me on this solo project. I’ve been doing a lot of traveling and recording over the past year, trying to do everything I can to get in the studio and work with new producers and writers and try to see what I can come up with. I’ve been really lucky to find some incredible people to work with and I’m really happy with the album.”
His fans haven’t let him down.
“It has been really surprising. The fans have been loving the new music. It’s cool to see that the fans who have been with us since the beginning are the ones who are supporting me now. Even new ones are coming around who may have not listened to the Jonas Brothers before. It’s a really exciting time for me.”
It was just revealed that Demi Lovato and ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas took home the award for Charity Song at the 2011 Do Something Awards on Monday (August 14) for their duet, “Make A Wave.”
And now, it seems like the exes are doing something about getting back on good terms!
The 18-year-old singer and actress just tweeted the good news to Joe, 22, saying, “@joejonas Yayy! We won ”
And Joe replied back, “Wow! @ddlovato Congrats dem! Super awesome!!”
